How to get there from Santiago

The Maipo Valley is reached via urban exits toward Pirque, Buin, Isla de Maipo, or Paine. Casablanca is located on the way to the coast via Route 68. Colchagua is reached via Route 5 South to San Fernando/Santa Cruz. Curicó is further south, also via Route 5.

What to see in each valley

Maipo Valley — One of the most traditional wine-growing areas. Ideal for a short visit since it’s very close to Santiago. Pirque and Buin are home to renowned wineries, restaurants, and heritage experiences.

Casablanca Valley — Perfect for combining wine and sea. Known for its white wines and coastal climate. Can be paired with Valparaíso, Viña del Mar, or a meal along the way.

Colchagua Valley — Santa Cruz serves as the base. A powerful destination for Carmenère, Cabernet Sauvignon, boutique hotels, restaurants, museums, and tours through top-tier wineries.

Curicó Valley — Less crowded and very appealing for travelers seeking a more relaxed wine experience, with agricultural landscapes and a traditional valley identity.

Day trips and tours

Many wineries offer guided visits, tastings, pairings, lunches, and premium experiences, but reservations are almost always required. From Santiago, it’s possible to do Maipo or Casablanca in a single day. Colchagua can also be done as a full day trip, though it’s best enjoyed with an overnight stay in Santa Cruz.

Hotels and dining

In Colchagua, boutique hotels, heritage mansions, contemporary Chilean cuisine restaurants, and lodgings among the vineyards stand out. In Casablanca, there are lunch and tasting options along the way to the coast. In Maipo, the appeal lies in combining proximity, history, and good food without long drives.
